Greetings from Pfeffernüesse

Hi everybody!

Ms. O’Kitten hasn’t shown you any pictures of me in awhile. She says it’s been too cold to take any. I say pooh-pooh to cold! But then again, she’s not nearly as fluffy as I am. Poor Ms. O'Kitten!

Ms. O’Kitten says I’m 28 weeks old now. I’m not sure what that means, but I think it means that I’m getting very, very big.

Here I am on my way to dinner. This is pretty much the best time of day. When O’Kitten gets the dishes out, I bounce all over! Sometimes my mom and my grandma try to eat out of my dish, and I have to try to push them out of the way. They’re still bigger than me, but not for long, heehee!

But I’m not so big yet that I don’t still enjoy a little visit to the milk bar now and then...

Little Fetishes

fet•ish (fĕt'ĭsh, fē'tĭsh) ►n. 1. An object believed to have spiritual powers. 2. An object of excessive attention or reverence. 3. An obsessive attachment; fixation. [from Lat. factīcius, artificial.]

Cats and Magick Rocks

I collected little cat figures when I was a child. There are still a lot of them living next door at my parents' house. One of these days they are going to move over here. (Yes, that is a squirrel in there, he’s a stray.)

Here's the striped kitty amongst some of her new friends.

I think the rabbit is made of chalcedony. The cat on the far right is moss agate--supposedly a special stone for Gemini.

This is a little piece of polished snowflake obsidian that I just got.

Dia de los Muertos

Mr. and Mrs. O’Kitten...

...and an angel.

Whiskers

Awhile back there was some conversation over at Stumbling Over Chaos about collecting one’s cat’s whiskers. Well, I do save my cats’ whiskers--when I’m lucky enough to find them. (No, I don’t pull them off of the cats, I promise.)

My little collection lives in this dish. It includes whiskers from Copernicus and Grey Cat, now both gallavanting in the big catnip patch in the great beyond, as well as many from the girls.

No consensus was ever reached as to whether finding a cat’s whisker is good luck or not, but it can’t hurt, can it?

And Puzzles

I really enjoy crossword puzzles. My mother-in-law clips them out of her newspaper and sends them to me. Then, in typical obsessive-compulsive pack-rat fashion, I found myself unable to throw them out after I completed them. Hence, my latest project.

I proudly presented her with The Spare Across-and-Down Roll.

Isis: Oh goody, toilet paper, my favorite!

It contained 240+ completed puzzles. (At some point while taping them together I lost count.) Does anyone think my meds need to be adjusted? Hmmm...

What I Got

I promised details of the contents of the second package I received from my super-fantastic PRGE secret pal, who I now know to be none other than motherofallneedles. What a goddess!

The basket she knit and felted from yarn she dyed herself isn't in the photo, because it was already on display in a very special place in the living room.

I found the package upon my return from the airport, where I had just dropped Mr. O'Kitten off--he's currenly visiting NYC for a week. Once again, perfect timing!

In her reveal she even sent a gorgeous photo of herself and her daughter PLUS a special surprise for Mr. O'Kitten. Two English lavender sachets (imagine how the box smelled, mmm!), a huge skein of new wool Conwy yarn in an amazing olive shade called "Celtic", and four really fun sparkly balls of "Zip"--I'm thinking these would make a cute summer top.

And check out the yarn tote! With a house full of cats I try to keep each of my knitting projects in a separate bag (needles, pattern, notions, and yarn)--so now I'm finally transfering them from ziplocks and knotted plastic grocery sacks (which cats and needles tend to eat through in short order) into real bags. And this one has a cat-proof zipper, no less!

She's such a sweety i can't even believe it. It's been a challenging couple months for me and having such a great SP has been a wonderful thing.

Now that y'all have gotten me addicted to knitting socks (oh, you know who you are), I've been searching high and low for good sock patterns. And look what Alison sent: Knitting on the Road: Sock Patterns for the Traveling Knitter.

It's full of amazing patterns, and now that I have those beautiful skeins of KPPPM and the Conwy wool I can't wait to dig into it. In the top photo you can see that I've picked out the first pair I want to try (unless I change my mind, lol). What a cool book--there's even a pair from Michigan.

What a great week. Well, I must begin to knit and put some of these goodies to good use...
