Waiting Rooms and Kittyvillesque a la carte

Here's what I was doing in the waiting room Thursday morning: working on a larger critter blanket. Yes, it looks exactly like the first one, but since I have all that DreamBaby yarn in pastels that I myself am not partial to, I figure what could be more perfect for the animals? I highly doubt they'll look into each other's cages and say snidely, "Hey Daisy, guess what she's got? Yeah, the exact same blanket as you! You are SO last season..."

MaroonMouse reappeared as mysteriously as it disappeared, nonchalantly showing up yesterday in the middle of the living room amidst the rest of the cat toys, and Morgan has been reintegrated into the rest of the household as well. Thank goodness, because for three days our bedroom door looked like this as Isis pined for her playmate:

Isis is certain she can still play with Morgan, even though Morgan remains in the sick cat isolation ward (I mean, our bedroom).

Look at Isis' sad little face. Pathetic!

Inside view, showing Morgan (rear view), obviously unimpressed by Isis' devotion. Check out the big Isis-paws shoved under the door!

Awhile back I promised to post a pattern for the wristwarmers I made to match the Kittyville Hat. You can find the wristwarmers at Punk Rock Knit Girls (posted June 15).

Finally, one last vintage family hand-knit. My aunt knit this poncho for my mom when she was in college. Now this is one pattern I wish I could get my hands on. (I really ought to ask my aunt if she still has it. She might just save things forever the same way my mom does...)

My Favorite Sweater

I can finally show you my very favorite sweater (see 6/06, below). I must admit I like my mom's choice of gold over the bright red Miss Coats and Clark's is sporting on the "New Fashion Knits" cover. Have I already told you how much I love this sweater? Two generations and forty years later and still going strong.

Morgan seems too like it too, as cats seem to like most handknit and hand-crocheted things. Why is that, I wonder?

Speaking of which, I finally got my critter package off to Rebekah. Have started another blanket for the Critter Drive (trying to make this one a little larger). Grey Cat continues to sleep in his Snowball Cat Bed, and I actually caught Isis in there with him yesterday. Just goes to show you that if you knit it, they will come.

And once in awhile, they really do sleep.

A Missing Mouse, a Kitten on the Keys

Despite O.K. Laboratories promise to secure MaroonMouse's wellbeing, M.M. is MIA. Perhaps Emma has merely tucked MaroonMouse away for safekeeping? I will keep you posted.

Isis and Morgan had to find their own mouse, as Grey Cat and Emma refused to sh2are787jjjjjjjjjjuui [oops, kitten interference--I guess Isis wanted to express to you herself how unfair she thought the situation was. Emma kept chasing her away during the mouse test, after all.]

Here Morgan demonstrates proper mouse-pounce form on yet another mouse (yes, with four cats, we are indeed
House of Many Mouse).
But alas, Morgan seems to have caught whatever Isis had over Memorial Day weekend...now she has the kitty malaise and fever but, fortunately, no other symptoms. A visit to the vet today procured yet another bottle of banana-scented Clavamox and hopefully that'll do the trick for her just as it did for Isis. Meanwhile Isis is back to chasing Grey Cat and Emma, forlornly playmate-le6ss[]=----
]\\bv7tggtgs3£ [LOL, once again, Isis chose that moment to express herself on the keys--I swear I'm not making this up...] She just bit my ear for confirmation.

In other animal news, Broody Hen escorted her chick out into public this week. She is teaching it to scratch in the dirt and shows it in great detail what is edible (grass: yes, chick feed: yes, cornbread crumbs: yes, potato peels: mamas only). They have long, almost incessant conversations together. Sometimes the baby chick is having its lessons, and sometimes it is just running in crazy circles around Broody Hen's feet. Too funny.

Finally, planting is almost finished. Eggplant and pickling cukes, check. Today was pumpkins, hubbard, and spaghetti squash. And my mom gave me some really pretty flowers--we potted them the other day and now they're hanging on my deck. (This is a big step up from nothing but a fire escape to grow things on!)

Another disclaimer: I managed to do this post on my Mac, yay! But there's no cheat-y preview thingy so...ack! Here goes...
